The great people at the Wakefield Creative network Cognitiv have kindly invited me to speak at their forthcoming event in September, where I will be sharing ‘Why you need to become a Social Capitalist‘.

Here’s their news release. If you’re in the area do come along. Or at least spread the word.

Cognitiv, the not-for-profit group supporting the creative, digital and IT community across the Wakefield district will host Cognitiv Means Business on Wednesday 7th September, welcoming Andy Green who will look at the importance of becoming a social capitalist and how this is the key to career and business success.

Taking place at 5.30pm – 7.30pm at The Arthouse in Wakefield, Andy will deliver a thought-provoking, inspirational and practical session ‘Why you need to become a Social Capitalist’. Opening your eyes to the hidden crisis our society faces he will provide you with new hope, tools and ways forward to help you, your organisation and the communities you serve thrive.

Andy, founder of IndyCube Wakefield and also the not-for-profit social enterprise the Flexible Thinking Forum, which works to tackle the growing crisis in the decline of Social Capital in any community, comments: “We are living in a world with a hidden crisis – the decline of social capitalists. We hang about less with others and do less for our civic and communal good. This is bad news. But, the good news is that we can use new tools and thinking to be a better Social Capitalist which will also help us to transform our careers and our businesses.

“My goal is to help people acquire Social Capital glasses, so that they can spot the symptoms of its decline in all areas of their work – whether this is in declining memberships, engagement, growing apathy or inertia. Importantly I will also be sharing simple tools that will address these issues and help businesses to survive and thrive.”

With the goal of empowering attendees to collaborate better and to create the change they want to see in the world, the session will help spot the Social Capital crisis affecting business, demonstrate why you need to focus on just 15% of your targets and offer new values-led change tools whilst also introducing you to the critical difference between your ‘Changemakers’ and your ‘Protectors’.

Cognitiv Means Business ‘Why you need to become a Social Capitalist’, will take place on Wednesday 7th September 5.30pm – 7.30pm at The Arthouse in Wakefield. To find out more and book your space visit
